Canada is once more in the midst of another royal homecoming (alongside Canada Day)!
Their Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge K.G. (the second-in-line to the Crown), and The Duchess of Cambridge arrived on Thursday. The royal couple were greeted by The Right Honourable Stephen Harper P.C., M.P. (Calgary Southwest), the Prime Minister, before being received at Government House by the Queen's representative, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D., F.R.S.C., the Governor General of Canada.
Something that I found to be exceptionally exciting is the fact that twenty-five new citizens were sworn-in and performed their oaths to the Queen in the presence of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. What a spectacular honour to be made a citizen before not only a member of our world-renowned judicial institutions, but members of The Royal Family of Canada themselves! The crowds of people that have received Their Royal Highnesses during these past few days are evidence enough that Canadians know that our arrangements as a constitutional monarchy make for an engaged and more stable system of government.
