    Lightbulb Final Fantasy XIII-2

I am looking tremendously forward to Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Now, FF-XIII got a lot of negative criticism when it was released -- the game used a completely new engine, and used a new combat system that looked and felt very like very much a departure from the previous few franchise installments. However, FF-XIII had an absolutely fantastic story to drive it, and that's what I have always played Square Enix's games for. So, which bated breath, I await Final Fantasy XIII-2 (and for the pleasure of members of The Peace Arch, I have embedded a preview).

I can't believe the Final Fastasy series is still going! It's impressive!

Have you been a fan of the series since the NES days, Chris?

    Indeed, I have!

My favourite remains Final Fantasy VIII.

But Final Fantasy (i.e., the original NES version) holds a special place with me because -- of course -- it started it all. And there's something to be said for the simplicity of the engine, and yet the complexity and customisation of gameplay. It's funny to think that Square was on the brink of bankruptcy when that NES game was released, and it was supposed to be the last game ever turned out by Square -- but the success of it (entirely surprising, at the time) fueled them to move forward.

    Wink

I apologize for the off topic nature of this post, but I feel compelled to ask this...

Why do I find it humourous that a Liberal's favourite game is FINAL Fantasy 8?
