This Sega title was actually based on Blue Thunder, a 1983 film that soon spawned a TV series in 1984.

In this game, you are in control of a helicopter, as you must destroy some enemy tanks and helicopters who have taken over your country. With over four levels to play through, you are mixed between third person and top down playing surfaces, as you try to take back your country.

This game would later be ported onto many other systems in the late 80's, as it would later spawn a sequel on the Sega MegaDrive called Super Thunder Blade (1988).

This sequel was actually one of the launch titles for the Sega MegaDrive/Genesis. Released in 1988 in Japan, this game is now seen as one of the weaker early titles from the MegaDrive, as some critics have complained about the faulty hit detection, and the choppy gameplay.
