Hey all,
I know I don't post here a lot (I'm pretty busy, and by the time I ever come here all of the interesting threads seem to be so far in that it takes me forever to catch up).
I'm a publisher for an independent publishing house in Toronto, and I do special reports for the Toronto Star and the National Post (actually, one of mine came out today -check the Start to see what i do if you're interested).
I'm not here for shameless self promo though (although it never hurts, lol).
I proposed a new title to the management team that I would like to work on, and they're not entirely convinced it will work.
I would like to do an 8 page report called "Your Vote". It would discuss the reason that voting is important, and motivate readers to hit the polls this fall. I would also discuss the history of voting in Canada (how women obtained the right to vote, then immigrants, etc) and discuss each parties platform in laymen's terms. Essentially I would be depending on the political parties to advertise (in which I would be hoping to sell each of the a full page of advertising space, that they could use for whatever message they wanted and would be commissioning political journalists and probably several political science professors to do the editorial.
Since many of the posters here seem to take a strong interest in politics, I thought I would toss the idea out here first to see what you think.
Any feedback is completely appreciated. We are normally assigned titles here, so for me to propose this I need a lot of ammo to present management with. I figured you guys would be a great first step to help me wrap my head around what the readers might want to see.
